California Distance Learning Project

One excellent source of adult-interest passages is the California Distance Learning Project . Stories are grouped by topic area and are taken from news stories. Many are shown in two levels. The "basic story" level seems to be around a GLE 5-6. The "full story" are somewhat higher, often at a high school level. Students can hear the stories read aloud and do a number of activities online.
